Types of Water Pressure Issues
Too Little Water Pressure. If you don’t have enough water pressure in your home, you will have a difficult time doing necessary tasks. You may not be able to wash dishes, take a shower, or even fill a glass of water at the sink without having to wait for a long time. Low water pressure is frustrating, and it may be caused by a number of factors.
These include:
Clogged pipe
Closed shut-off valve
Blocked faucet
Water leak
Plumbing blockages
Malfunctioning pressure regulator
Our Collinsville plumbers will inspect the system to determine the underlying cause of the low water pressure. If the water pressure is below 40 psi, this means there is likely a problem with your plumbing system. We will check for clogs, adjust the pressure regulator, and repair or replace the shut-off valve if necessary.
Too Much Water Pressure
In some cases, your home may actually have too much water pressure. This will cause higher utility bills, damage your water softeners and water heaters, and corrode faucets, seals, and water-using appliances. Water pressure that is over 80 psi is considered too high. It is necessary to install a pressure reducing valve to ensure proper water pressure.
As a rule, your water pressure should be between 50 to 60 psi.
